Bergen Candle Co
If you want to do a 3-4 hour long activity with your family while they visit and learn a new nice skill- look no further than Bergen Candle Co. You can buy one of a kind handmade candles or take a workshop with the owner where he will teach you his tips and tricks of making candles from his 20+ years of experience. You can book the workshops online where they state classes are 500kr per person. The store is tucked away in Steinkjellergaten, it is easy to miss, but look out for the signs and follow the glow of colorful candles.

Ulriken
While hiking up Ulriken is a fantastic free workout, sometimes it's nice to sit back and enjoy the ride—especially if your parents are visiting (and footing the bill). For a 415kr round trip, the Ulriken gondola takes you up the highest of Bergen’s seven mountains, offering some of the best panoramic views of the city, fjords, and surrounding landscapes. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can hike across Vidden, a plateau that connects Ulriken to Fløyen. Or you can settle in at the mountaintop restaurant, where you can enjoy a coffee, a meal, or even a glass of wine with an unbeatable view.

Pinocchio Mat og Vinbar
This restaurant has it all—warm and welcoming staff, locally sourced ingredients, and a thoughtfully curated atmosphere that invites good conversation and a sense of togetherness. The menu is designed for sharing, with small plates meant to be ordered in multiples, making it the perfect spot for a foodie gathering. Whether you're dining with family or friends for a special occasion, Pinocchio guarantees that everyone leaves happy (and well-fed). Bulle recommends getting a reservation quite far in advance to secure a table, however if you do not have a reservation, you can also drop into the bar for a few glasses of wine.

Moon Restaurant
Featured in the Michelin Guide, Moon delivers world-class French cuisine and wine in Bergen. Perfect for a special occasion, this intimate restaurant serves beautifully plated French dishes made from locally sourced ingredients, alongside thoughtfully paired wines and desserts. Owned and operated by two brothers, Moon offers a warm, personal dining experience that’s sure to impress anyone you bring.

Bryggen and the fish market
The literal symbol of Bergen is Bryggen, where you can see buildings almost a thousand years old and enjoy some drinks or food, or just go for a stroll to admire the history of Bergen. Visit the iconic Fish Market at the end of Bryggen to immerse yourself in Bergen's rich maritime culture. This stands in contrast to your net worth when you discover a variety of fresh, local seafood for steep, touristy prices.

Julemarkedet (The Christmas Market)
If you are in Bergen in December, you should really experience the Christmas Market. This is the perfect place to buy christmas gifts, both from chains and from locals, or you can just stroll around and taste test different kinds of cheese, sausages and marmaledes. You also enjoy the ferris wheel or just enjoy the magical lights and vibes, and maybe something warm to eat and drink in the cafe. The price premiums are high, but if that becomes someone else’s problem, this becomes one of the most enjoyable December activities in Bergen.
