International student in Bergen and feeling a little unplugged from the world around you? Fear not, here is a couple of different ways to keep up with what is going on in this cold but wonderful country.

Are you wondering why everyone keeps talking about Norway’s justice minister? Fascinated with Norway’s government pension fund, and want to keep up with its developments? Or maybe you want to know why Norway’s prime minister calls for all students to have more babies?

Here are some free (we are poor students, after all) ways to stay up to date on what is happening where you are.

  1. News in English: Views and news from Norway.
  2. Norway Exports: News, articles and databases about norwegian business and trade.
  3. Norway News: App that gathers Norwegian news in English from different channels, all in one place. Can be found in App Store or Google Play.
  4. Life in Norway: Not just news, more like a guide to living and working in Norway.
  5. The Nordic page: Used to be Norway’s only printed newspaper in english. Is now focused online like the others.
  6. The Local: Is not updated as frequently as others on the list, but still relevant.

In general there are very few good and updated sources solely focused on Norway, to stay updated on what is going on. On the other hand, many of the international newspapers do pay attention to our little amazing country. I therefore also recommend New York Times, Reuters, The Guardian and The Washington Post where you will find the main newsworthy events.
